Emily de Molly Cosmic Forces

Emily de Molly Cosmic Forces
Emily de Molly Cosmic Forces
This is a very popular polish at the moment, so I consider myself quite lucky to have been able to buy a bottle from Llarowe at her last restock. And it's sister polishes Oceanic Forces and Dark Forces! Cosmic Forces is a mixture of pink and holographic glitters (including some huge circle glitters) in a dark purple jelly base. I took my whole hand photographs in quite poor light, so it ended up looking rather darker than it might in sunlight.

Here's a shot of the glitters in the bottle. The polish isn't quite so densely packed with glitter - there's quite a bit stuck to the side of the bottle, but this gives an idea of the range and complexity of glitters in the polish.

I used a thin coat of Butter London HRH as a base for this mani - HRH is near enough the same colour as the base of Cosmic Forces and I wanted a solid base so I could wrap my tips and paint a neat edge. I used two coats of Cosmic Forces. There is a LOT of small glitter in this polish, and after two coats my nails were looking quite bumpy, so I used two coats of my usual glitter tamer, Gelous, to smooth this out, before finishing off with a coat of Seche Vite. The end result is very smooth - just be aware with this polish that you will probably need more topcoat than you think! Also, I had to fish around for the big circle glitters - I didn't get any out at all on the first coat so I got an orange stick, scraped the glitters off the inside of the bottle then gave the whole lot a good stir and shake......... a lot more came out on the second coat!

I haven't broken my middle finger nail, I just seem to have got a rather odd reflection on that nail. Must be all that topcoat. lol!

Here are a couple of macros to show the detail  of the glitters on my nails

I'm not quite certain I like this polish as much as I was expecting to. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, the formula is good, it's full of glitter and it does what it says on the tin. I think I'm just not in a purple mood............ I'm sure I'll like Oceanic Forces or Dark Forces better, since teal and black are much more my sort of colours than purple!

I purchased my Emily de Molly Cosmic Forces from Llarowe (international shipping);  if you are in the UK you can also buy  Emily de Molly polishes from Sally Magpies. Emily de Molly polishes sell out very quickly, so if you want them you really need to watch out for restocks.

Emily de Molly *It's Just a Phase*

Emily de Molly It's Just a Phase (over NARS 15 Minutes / OPI Who The Shrek Are You)
I couldn't believe my luck when I snagged this in Llarowe's recent restock. I know the Emily de Molly *Forces* are everybody's lemmings just now (actually I got those as well :D ) but it's the matt and neon glitters that really do it for me!

This is fabulous; bright red solid matt glitters in two sizes of hexes and bars; black in three sizes of hexes and semi transparent hot pink large hexes! You can see the transparency of the pink hexes in the bottle shot and on my nails.

I put it's Just A Phase over a contrasting gradient of NARS 15 Minutes and OPI Who The Shrek Are You. Whilst I love both colours, and they do work well together, it's a while since I used Who The Shrek Are You and I'd forgotten that it's quite sheer. It was a bit tricky to use for the sponge gradient so this might not be quite as smooth as I'd really like. But the glitter hides the faults in the gradients, so who cares! Also, sponge gradients are a messy business, and although I thought I'd done a reasonable clean-up, in the pictures my cuticles are still covered in yellow polish! Still, I love the overall effect and nobody is perfect. On to pictures.......

This is two thin coats of Emily de Molly It's Just a Phase with a coat of Gelous to smooth the glitters out and a thick coat of Seche Vite to finish off. Athough those pink glitters are big, they lie nice and flat on my nails..... and my nails have quite a high c-curve which sometimes makes odd shaped glitters difficult for me to place.

I love this glitter - now I'm stalking restocks for Super Vixen and Bright Young Things, lol!

I purchased my Emily de Molly It's Just a Phase from Llarowe (international shipping); Sally Magpies also stocks Emily de Molly if you are in the UK. Emily de Molly polishes sell out lightning fast though, so if you want them you really need to keep an eye out for restock times.

Emily de Molly No Love Lost, square nails, some glitter and a bit of stamping for International Nail Art Day!

Emily de Molly No Love Lost
Emily de Molly No Love Lost

I've cut my nails! No breaks, splits or accidents, there just comes a time when they're *too long* and I'm bored with them. And whilst I like the stiletto shape, after a while I start to find it a bit old fashioned and almost 'witchy' (I have long thin fingers anyway) and I'm craving little square nails again. Over the last few weeks I stopped shaping the stiletto curve right down to my nail bed, and let a bit of straight edge grow out. Now I've got just about enough straight sided nail to make a square shape - so here they are!

The polish is Emily de Molly No Love Lost. It's a red jelly with red and pink glitter of various sizes, and really beautiful. It's also the most difficult polish I've ever tried to photograph! In real life it's a wonderful crimson shade, but cameras want to translate it to a dull brick red. I must have taken over a hundred shots to try to get this colour accurate, using two different cameras and every exposure setting I could think of. I'd say these pictures are 'reasonable' but not perfect. It's richer crimson in real life. I googled images of this shade, and they all look brick-red, so at least I know I'm in good company with other bloggers in my difficulty to photograph this. I suppose it is something to do with the transparency of the polish and how it reflect light. Or something. lol!

Here's the polish in the bottle:

I used two coats of Emily de Molly No Love Lost, finished off with a coat of Gelous and a final coat of Seche Vite. Then I added some glitter - Lynnderella Bride of Franken. BoF is one of my favourite Lynnderellas, although I think it has been changed to a different version now. It's been a long time since I bought any Lynnderellas. BoF looks purple in the bottle, but there is actually very little colour in the base once on the nail. It contains holo microglitter and blue flashing iridiscent glitter of various sizes, which show up well against red polishes :D

Actually I thought BoF needed a little help this time, so I added a few dabs of Nostalgic Rio (an old indie which is a fairly thin suspension of blue and purple glitter in a clear base) to give it a bit more blue sparkle. The pink and red glitters you can see are all part of No Love Lost.

A couple of nail macros to show off the complexity of the glitter combination! This was awesome in the sunshine!

And finally, because the plates just about fit on my nails now, and it is International Nail Art day after all, I added a stamp using Bundle Monster plate 317 and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Whirlwind White. I'm British and I love my new little square nails <3

I purchased Emily de Molly No Love Lost from Sally MagpiesLlarowe also carries a good range of Emily de Molly polishes and ships internationally. Emily de Molly is a very popular brand at the moment (and rightly so, the polishes I've tried are super) and sell out quickly; if you want these you really need to watch out for restocks.

Emily de Molly Serenity

Emily de Molly Serenity
Emily de Molly Serenity
My first Emily de Molly! This is Serenity, a jelly polish in one of those aqua shades I can't resist, with bronzy-gold and holo teal glitter. The glitters are quite small and subtle, giving a very delicate effect.

This is two coats, with a base of Essie Turquoise & Caicos and Gelous and Seche Vite to smooth the whole lot out. Application and formula on Emily de Molly Serenity were excellent. With hindsight, Serenity probably didn't need to be layered over another colour, but I like to have something to wrap my tips with and something to get a nice crisp edge around my cuticles, neither of which I find very easy with glitter polishes.

Here's a bottle macro (not much polish here, mostly glitters stuck to the glass) and a couple of nail macros to show the glitters in a bit more detail:

Overall I'm very impressed with Serenity and I'm looking forward to trying more Emily de Molly shades if I'm lucky enough to get hold of any!

I purchased Emily de Molly Serenity from Sally Magpies; it's great to be able to buy indie polishes from a UK distributor - my order arrived the day after I placed it! I think these must have proved popular though, as there are only a few colours left now. Hopefully Sally will have a restock soon!
