Contrary Polish Santorini and Barry M Confetti in Licquorice

Contrary Polish Santorini
Contrary Polish Santorini

Santorini is the first Contrary Polish I've tried and I love it! It's a really strong cobalt blue with a sort of glass fleck or flakie shimmer.

I used three coats plus Seche Vite quick drying top coat for this mani. Application was fine, the colour still looked a bit streaky at two coats so I added a third - but I don't think that's unusual at all for this sort of blue. These pictures are taken indoors, at a window in bright evening sunlight.

Here's a couple of  macro shots to show the shimmer in a bit more detail.

Then I added a coat of Barry M Confetti in Licquorice, which is a fine black and white bar glitter. The Barry M Confetti range just launched in the last few days; they are very similar to the Nails Inc Feathers polishes (I've reviewed Nails Inc  Cornwall and Chester) - but include a couple of extra colours; I love black and white glitters so I couldn't resist trying this one.

This is just one thinnish coat of the confetti polish, plus a thick layer of topcoat. With hindsight , it really needed a second coat of topcoat. I like the black and white bar glitter, but I think it might look better over a lighter or brighter base colour. Ho-hum, next time............

I purchased Contrary Polish Santorini direct from Carrie at her blog; they are also available from Llarowe. I purchased Barry M Licquorice in my local Superdrug - there is a special offer there at the moment, if you spend £6 on Barry M you get a free Limited Edition summer polish - so I bought two confetti polishes and  got a yummy looking neon green for free :D

  1. I LOVE that blue! So pretty. I also love the Confetti Licquorice! I want to hoard ALL the bar, furry, fuzzy, confetti, whatever else they are being called polishes!

    1. It is good isn't it? I love the shimmer; I don't think I had a blue with a shimmer like this at all until I got Santorini!
