Splatter mani with M&S Autograph Ultimate Wear Bordeaux |
This is the first time I've done a real splatter mani - I've used the splatter image from Konad plate M21 before but I thought it was time to go for the real thing, super-messy in a true Jackson Pollock style! I did the spattering over a mani that was a couple of days old - M&S Autograph Ultimate Wear Nail Colour in Bordeaux, a lovely deep, rich red. For the spattering I used American Apparel Hassid (black) and Cotton (pale cream); I poured out a little of each onto a milk bottle cap, sucked a bit up into a drinking straw and blew it out over my nails. I did all the cream spattering first, allowed this to dry, then went back over all the nails with black. This was great fun to do, and not anywhere near as messy as I thought it might have been. I painted my cuticles (and entire finger ends) with cuticle oil before I started, and this made clean up really easy.
I love the results and I'll certainly do this again!

Here are a few macro shots to show the splatteriness of my splatter!

That's very striking, I love it! Stupid question time... I'm thinking a standard straw would be way too big. Did you use a small one like the kind you get on a drink carton?
ReplyDeleteThank you! No, not a stupid question at all, I should have said more about the straw. It was exactly what you thought - a small one off a drink carton! I've seen tutorials suggesting cut a standard straw down to size too.
DeleteAwesome! I need to try a real splatter...I'm afraid of the mess.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rhonda! I was nowhere near as messy as I expected; you should give it a try :)
DeleteLOVE THIS, its just brilliant. I may have to give it a go now, but I am a bit worried about mess
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Honestly, I didn't make anywhere near as much mess as I was expecting to!
