R&R Lacquers ELEGANT

R&R Lacquers Elegant / MoYou Artist XL 03

R&R Lacquers is a brand new UK Indie - just launched this weekend! I have a few of their lovely glitter toppers to review; the first one is Elegant, a very pretty combination of small bright teal hexagonal glitters, squares and hexes in a light minty green and lots of iridescent sparkle. Elegant is from R&R Lacquers' first collection, 'The New Black' - five glitters designed to look great over black. Of course I can't resist trying them over something different, but for this one I have included some black in the nail art to showcase Elegant.

OK, before I get sidetracked by the nail art, here is R&R Lacquers Elegant over a contrasting base, China Glaze Trendsetter - a shade considered weird by some but an old favourite of mine.

Application of Elegant was perfect, I got plenty glitter on my brush so this is just a single coat. The polish base in Elegant is just the right consistency so that the glitters flow nicely across the  nail without clumping together or any need for dabbing or special placement. One coat of Gelous and one coat of Seche Vite to smooth this out.

Then I thought I should add some black! I stamped over this whole mani with MoYou Artist Plate XL 03 and Amercian Apparel Hassid. This pattern is very reminiscent of Wassily Kandinsky's many pictures on the theme of concentric circles. I added another layer of R&R Lacquers Elegant over the black (which is why some of the glitters 'tuck under' the black swirls and others sit on top), then smoothed it out again with Gelous and Seche Vite.

The MoYou XL plates are fab - not only are there loads of brilliant designs to choose from but more importantly for people like me who like their nails a bit longer, the images are supersized!

I loved this mani - I've been wearing it for a few days but sadly I've had to remove it now as the topcoat started peeling off when I'd been swimming today.

R&R Lacquers Elegant was sent for review (along with a couple of others I'll be sharing soon). R&R Lacquers polishes are available from their Etsy Shop. I purchased  MoYou Artist XL 03 from MoYou's website. The other polishes in this mani are old favourites from my collection.
